“Would you care to listen to me more? Thank you
Holding bags on down right from the hospital
It’s a patient that’s worth to keep the germs off the turf
Cybernetic microscopes and metal antidote
Two telescopes that magnify the size of a roach
Three computers to cup of coffee planted with my hand and
Astroplanets detached turn on rear foggers”
– Kool Keith a.k.a. Dr. Octagonecologyst
Shot for AHNF Elixir’s “Antidote” e-juice line.
Inspired by the artwork by Pushead for Hip-Hop eccentric, Kool Keith’s “Dr. Octagon” album. Dr. Octagon was a polarizing album with its release in 1996 with Keith’s surreal lyrics matched with Dan The Automator beats along with scratches by DJ Q-Bert of the Invisibl Scratch Piklz.
I’ve been wanting to do a Hip-Hop Halloween / Horrorcore photoshoot which included the imagery created by Pushead of Dr. Octagonecologyst. While we’ve done costumes and such before, figuring out how to bring the character to life without making him look too cheesy or Halloween costume looking was a task. I researched a lot of masks online, trying to find something that would work. Most of the masks were large and for men, which would look huge on Tracy, our muse. I thought of doing makeup rather than a mask, and found a skull prosthetic in the makeup aisle. I hit up Krystyl to see if she could apply it, and she said it’d be no problem. Without Krystyl’s makeup expertise and the photo studio, this is a shoot that we couldn’t have pulled off a few years ago.
